Madison Ryan

Madison Ryan is a violinist, performer, and educator who strives to build a greater sense of community through her music. She is currently based in Miami, Florida, where she enjoys contributing to the city’s unique and vibrant music scene.
Madison is best known for her work in forwarding the accessibility and diversity of classical music, as exemplified by her recently-published dissertation, “Expanding the Repertoire: A Presentation of Violin Concertos Composed by Women.” This spearheaded her Expanding the Repertoire Initiative, which strives to catalog and promote works by historically marginalized groups. This initiative led Madison to give the regional premieres of several women-composed works for violin and develop the Women in Music Concert Series in partnership with the Coral Gables Woman’s Club. She has also presented on related topics for the
American String Teachers Association, SHE Festival, and College Music Society. Madison frequently performs as a recital and chamber musician throughout South Florida. She is a founding member of both Duo Vizcaya, a percussion-violin duo that seeks to bring more attention to this unique instrumentation, and the Deering Quartet, a string quartet that seeks to develop creative concert experiences while platforming works by modern and underrepresented composers.
When Madison is not performing, she teaches violin, viola, and string orchestra at Barry University and the True North Classical Academy. Her work is inspired by her numerous teachers and mentors, including Charles Castleman, Dr. John Fadial, David Neely, Karen Lord-Powell, Jodi Levitz, Elizabeth Suh Lane, and Dr. Cynthia Scully.
